Lady Eagles Drop Twinbill to Evangel

WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. - The Williams softball team dropped both games of their doubleheader on Saturday to the Evangel Valor, falling in game one 7-4 and game two 2-1.

Game One

The Valor took the lead in the third inning off a two-run homerun. The Eagles took the lead in the fourth inning when they plated four runs. Megan Weis scored on a passed ball and then Kennedy Johnson hit a 3 RBI double. The Valor retook the lead in sixth with another two-run homer and added to that lead in the seventh another two-run blast. 

Angel Gillette got the start and pitched 6.1 innings. She allowed seven runs off eight hits, walked four and struck out six. Maddie Wallace pitched 2/3 innings in relief and allowed one hit while striking out one. 

Game Two

The Valor took the lead in the fourth inning with a solo shot. The Eagles tied it in the fifth with a RBI single from Megan Weis, but the Valor took the lead right back in the sixth with a run.

Alexis Rubio pitched a complete game and allowed two runs off seven hits, walked one and struck out four.

The Lady Eagles are next in action on March 3-4 when they travel to Gulf Shores, Ala. to participate in the Gulf Coast Invitational.
