Shive Named WBU September Athlete of the Month
Shive, a freshman from Altus, Oklahoma, competed in his first two collegiate swimming meets in September. He had five Top 5 finishes, broke 9 school records, and has 4 NAIA Nationals cuts. Shive is currently ranked first nationally in the 50m freestyle, the 100m backstroke, and the 50m backstroke. He is also ranked second in the 200m backstroke. He is also currently ranked as the third best all-around swimmer nationally. He broke the school record for the 100m back twice, the 50m back twice, the 50m freestyle, the 200m back. He also led off two record breaking 200m medley relays and led off a record breaking 400m freestyle relay.
"It is impressive what he has managed to do this early in the season. He is an incredibly hard worker so I know the rest of the season will be even more successful," Head Coach Walker Todd had to say.
