Eagles Sweep Pioneers in Monday's Doubleheader

WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. - The Williams baseball team defeated the Crowley's Ridge Pioneers in both games of Monday's doubleheader, winning game one 14-8 and game two 14-3. With the wins the Eagles are now 6-5 on the season.

Game One

Tyler Guffey and Blake Simmons led the team with 3 RBIs each, while Isaac Williams, Nick Allred, Wyatt LeDure and Noah Everett all had 2. Williams went 3-3 at the plate, while Simmons and Guffey went 2-3. Simmons had two doubles in the game, while Allred had one. Williams had five stolen bases, which is tied for the school record of stolen bases in a single game. 

Cole Manning got the start on the mound and pitched 2.2 innings. He gave up seven runs off two hits, walked six and struck out two. Austin Tate pitched 0.2 inning of relief and gave up three hits and walked one. Parker Jeffries pitched 3.2 innings innings of relief and gave up one run off two hits, walked one and struck out five. Jeffries is credited with the win. 

Game Two

Garrison Keene led the team with 3 RBIs, while Allred and Nicholas Jones had two. Jeffries, LeDure, Tyler Privett, Everett, and Guffey all collected one. Jones hit the lone homerun in the series. Allred, Jones, LeDure, and Tyler Privett all hit doubles in the game. Dezmond Cordova went 3-3 at the plate and Jones went 2-2. 

Cash Forrester got the start and pitched 4.0 innings. He gave up one run off two hits, walked three, and struck out one. Blake Simmons pitched 2.0 innings of relief, giving up one hit and striking out three. Eric Tolar pitched 1.0 inning of relief and gave up two runs off three hits, walked one and struck out one.

The Eagles host Ecclesia College for a four-game series on Friday and Saturday, with doubleheaders on both days. First pitch for both days is scheduled for noon.
