Eagles Split Friday Doubleheader With Mustangs

WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. - The Williams baseball team opened up AMC with a doubleheader split against the Central Baptist Mustangs, taking game one 10-0 and dropping game two 17-4 in seven innings. The Eagles are now 13-13 on the season and 1-1 in conference play.

Game One

The Eagles got things going early as Dezmond Cordova led off the first inning with a homerun to left field. Nicholas Jones hit a RBI single and then Skylar Morrison hit a 2-run homer to dead center to give the Eagles a 4-0 lead. They added three more runs in the second when Jarron Brantley hit a homerun right field, Dylan Creech hit a RBI single, and Parker Jeffries was walked with the bases loaded. Jacob Watkins made it an 8-0 game in the fifth with a RBI single, and then Morrison hit a 2 RBI single in the sixth to make it 10-0 Eagles.

Noah Willingham pitched a 7.0 inning complete game for the Eagles and allowed three hits while striking out seven.

Game Two

Game two was the complete opposite of game one for the Eagles. It was all Central Baptist to start the game as they scored a run in the first, five runs in the second, a run in the third, a run in the fourth, and three runs in the fifth to take a 11-0 lead. Williams got two runs back in the fifth when Brantley reached on an error that scored Cordova and then Luis Febres hit a RBI single to score Brantley. The Mustangs plated four more runs in the sixth and two runs in the seventh to lead 17-2. Williams scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh when Febres hit a RBI single and Jeffries drew a bases-loaded walk, but it wasn't enough to avoid the run-rule.
