Eagles Defeat Scots; Secure No. 4 Seed in AMC Tournament

The Williams baseball took the rubber match from Lyon College Saturday with a 4-1 victory at Fred Wann Field to secure the No. 4 seed going into next week's American Midwest Conference Championship tournament.

The victory improved the Eagles' record to 24-25 overall and 11-10 in conference play, while the Scots fell to 17-23 and 10-11 in the league.

Williams jumped out in front of the Scots early with a pair of RBI singles in the first inning off the bats of Dylan Creech and Luis Febres to take an early 2-0 advantage.

WBU held onto that lead for most of the night, until Lyon pushed across a run in the sixth to cut the lead in half.

Ryan Collins helped Williams add to its lead in the eighth when he scored on a wild pitch and Creech drove in his second run of the night with a sacrifice fly to left to set the final at 4-1.

Morrison went 2-for-4 with one run scored, while Creech added a hit and two RBIs. Morrison started the game on the mound and tossed four innings and yielded just one hit before giving way to Cash Forrester who went the final five innings in relief and gave up just one run on one hit for the save.

The Eagles will take on the winner of Harris-Stowe and Lyon on Tuesday, May 2 at 4 p.m. in the double-elimination AMC Championship tournament in O'Fallon, Mo.
