Eagles Swept By No. 11 William Carey

HATTIESBURG, Miss. (2/21/26) – The Williams Baptist University baseball team dropped the final two games of its four-game set with No. 11 William Carey on Saturday afternoon.

GAME ONE - No. 11 William Carey 13, Williams 4

Cade Parks (2-3, 2 R, RBI) and Mari Thomas (2-3) led the way at the plate for the Eagles in the third game of the series.

Parks got the Eagles started in with a lead-off homer to put Williams ahead 1-0 in the first.  Carey responded in the bottom of the second with a six spot to take the lead.

Luke Bullins scored on a groundout, then Parks scored on a sacrifice fly from Lawson Aaron to cut the lead to three in the top of the third, but the Crusaders added insurance with another run in the bottom of the frame.

Carey struck for another big inning in the fourth to extend the lead to 12-4 and cruise to the win.

GAME TWO - No. 11 William Carey 2, Williams 1

Connor Brinkley (2-3, 2B) and Will Riley (1-3, RBI) had solid games at the plate in the series finale.

After William Carey struck for the first run in the game in the bottom of the first, Connor Brinkley scored on an error in the top of the second to tie the game at one run a piece.  The Eagles threatened to take the lead with runners on second and third with no outs, but failed to convert.

Carey took the lead back with a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the second, and that would cap off the scoring.

WBU put a runner on base in the 5th, 6th, and 7th innings but could not bring him around to tie the game.

Dawson Cloud (0-3) tossed a complete game in the loss, holding William Carey to just two earned runs with five hits in six innings pitched.

The losses drop WBU to 1-10 overall on the season.  Next, the Eagles return to Shell Field on Tuesday, Feb. 24 to host Philander Smith in a midweek doubleheader.  First pitch of game one against the Panthers is set for noon.
