Thomas Tabbed AMC Player of the Week
WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. (3/9/26) – Williams Baptist University baseball senior Mari Thomas was selected as the American Midwest Conference Baseball Player of the Week after leading WBU to a sweep in its first conference series of the season, the league announced Monday afternoon.
Thomas went 3-for-7 with a double and a home run. He drove in five runs, stole two bases, and walked five times in the three-game series against Hannibal-LaGrange.
The highlight of the weekend came in the first game of the series. Down four runs in the bottom of the eighth with two outs, Thomas demolished a game-tying grand slam to left field. WBU went on to win the game in walk-off fashion, 15-14.
Thomas led the Eagles to a three-game sweep of HLGU in the first conference series of the year. WBU is riding a nine-game winning streak. It is the longest active streak in NAIA and the longest in modern program history.
Thomas and the Eagles return to the diamond on Tuesday, March 10, on the road against Philander Smith. First pitch of the doubleheader against the Panthers is set for noon from Lamar Porter Field.
