Eagles Down Mustangs Behind Offensive Explosion

CONWAY, Ark. (3/14/26) – The Williams Baptist University baseball team powered past Central Baptist on Saturday by the final score of 20-9 at Bear Stadium.

Will Riley (3-4, 3 RBI, 2B), Connor Brinkley (3-5, 2 RBI), Mason Andrews (1-4, 3 RBI), and Mari Thomas (3-5, 4 R, RBI) led the way for WBU at the plate.  The Eagles tied for the second most hits in a game in program history with 23 knocks.

Central Baptist kicked off the scoring with a solo home run in the bottom of the third. The Mustangs tacked on five more in the frame to take an early 6-0 lead. 

The Eagles answered with a five spot in the top of the fourth inning. An RBI single from Connor Brinkley brought home Gavin Mink for WBU's first run of the game. After a bases loaded walk from Mason Andrews brought home another run, Bodey Ellis singled up the middle to bring home two more to cut the lead to 6-4. Cade Parks slapped an RBI single to cut the lead to one before the inning ended. 

CBC added a run in the bottom of the fourth, but Williams tied the game 7-7 when Andrews roped a double down the right field line. 

Kaeden Kennedy put the Eagles on top for the first time in the contest with an RBI single in the top of the sixth. WBU added on two more to extend the lead to 10-7. 

The Eagles kept their foot on the gas in the late innings with runs in the sixth, seventh, eighth, and ninth to extend the lead to 20-8.  Riley, Mink, and Lawson Aaron each swung for  RBI doubles in the ninth to add more breathing room in the ninth.

The Eagles used six different pitchers in the win.  Brady Barr (W, 1-0) earned the win after tossing a scoreless frame with two strikeouts in the fourth.  Cooper Thomas tossed a shutout inning, and Connor Brinkley closed out the final five outs of the game.

The win moves WBU to 13-12 overall and 4-2 in AMC play.  The Eagles return to action at home on Tuesday, March 17 at home against Arkansas Baptist.  First pitch of the midweek doubleheader is set for noon from Shell Field.
