WBU Drops Series Opener to Columbia
WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. (3/27/26) – The Williams Baptist University baseball team lost the series-opening game to Columbia 9-3 at Shell Field on Friday afternoon.
Cade Parks led the way at the plate for WBU with a 3-for-4 line with two runs scored and an RBI.
Columbia struck for the first two runs of the game in the top of the third, but Williams struck back to tie the game 2-2 on an RBI single from Cade Parks and a bases-loaded sac fly from Lawson Aaron in the bottom of the third.
CC went on to score in every inning after that, with single runs in the fourth, fifth, and sixth. The Cougars extended the lead further with a four-run seventh to go ahead 9-2.
Parks laced a single into right field and came around to score on a single from Skylar Morrison, but the Eagles were unable to make a comeback and dropped the first of the three-game series.
The loss drops WBU to 10-14 overall and 6-4 in AMC play.
Originally scheduled as a doubleheader, game two of the series was postponed due to rain. The Eagles and Cougars will wrap up the series with two nine-inning games on Saturday, March 28. First pitch is set for 11 a.m. from Shell Field.
