Eagles Fall to Pioneers on Senior Day
WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. (4/11/26) – The Williams Baptist University baseball team dropped its final home game of the season to Crowley's Ridge by the score of 11-4 at Shell Field on Saturday afternoon.
Prior to the game, WBU baseball recognized 12 seniors in a pregame ceremony. Blaine Sullinger, Bodey Ellis, Mason Andrews, Coleton Payton, Jackson Finder, Connor Brinkley, Brett Cyprien, Luke Bullins, Skylar Morrison, Tyler Merriman, Brevin Carlisle, and Mari Thomas were honored for their hard work and dedication to Williams baseball over the last few seasons.
CRC struck big in the first inning with nine runs to take a commanding lead early.
WBU got on the board in the bottom of the second inning on back-to-back home runs. Mari Thomas sent a three-run homer out to left, and Gavin Mink followed up with a solo shot to cut the lead to 9-4.
The Eagles were unable to score after that, though, as WBU managed just five hits in the contest.
Ben Bledsoe was impressive in relief, tossing 6.0 innings with just two runs allowed paired with eight strikeouts. Brock McNeill followed up with 2.0 scoreless innings on the mound.
The loss drops WBU to 26-16 overall and 11-6 in conference play.
Next, the Eagles will wrap up the regular season with a three-game set at Mission on April 17 and 18. First pitch of game one is set for noon on Friday from Ozark, Mo.
