Eagles Drop Pitchers’ Duel to Mustangs in AMC Tournament Semifinals
OZARK, Mo. (4/28/26) – The Williams Baptist University baseball team took its first loss at the American Midwest Conference Tournament against Central Baptist on Tuesday night at Ozark Mountain Sports Complex by the final score of 2-1.
Lawson Aaron (2-4, RBI) and Cade Parks (2-5) led the Eagles on offense in the low-scoring affair.
CBC scored both of its runs in the bottom of the third to get out to a 2-0 lead.
Gabe Dirnberger pitched 4.0 innings in his start with just the two runs given up. The bullpen locked down after that with Brock McNeill, Kaden Martin, Cooper Thomas, and Coleton Payton all combining to shut out the Mustangs the rest of the way.
The only WBU run came off an RBI single from Lawson Aaron in the sixth that cut the lead in half.
The Eagles had opportunities with runners on base in the eighth and ninth, but were unable to convert to overcome the deficit.
The loss drops Williams to 30-18 overall. The Eagles will return to action in an elimination game against Columbia at noon on Wednesday, April 29 from Ozark Mountain Sports Complex.
