Eagles Defeat Cougars, Fall to Mustangs in AMC Baseball Title Game

OZARK, Mo. (4/29/26)  – The Williams Baptist University baseball team tied the school record for wins in a season and made its first appearance in the American Midwest Conference Tournament championship game as it saw its 2026 campaign come to an end at the Ozark Mountain Sports Complex on Wednesday afternoon.

GAME ONE - Williams 4, Columbia 3

Cade Parks (3-4, 2 2B, RBI) and Skylar Morrison (2-5, HR, 2 RBI) led the way at the plate as the Eagles staved off elimination against the Cougars.

After a scoreless first three innings, Morrison sent a two-run shot over the left field wall to put Williams on the board first in the top of the fourth inning.

The Cougars responded with a solo homer of their own in the bottom of the fifth, then took a 3-2 lead with a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth.

Cade Parks fought back to tie the game with an RBI double in the top of the seventh.  Later in the inning, Mari Thomas singled Parks home to put WBU on top for good 4-3.

Columbia loaded the bases in the bottom half of the inning, but Connor Brinkley induced an inning-ending grounder to strand all three runners on.   In the ninth, Brinkley struck out the side to seal the victory and send Williams to the AMC Tournament title game for the first time in program history.

Brinkley (W, 5-0) earned the win after throwing 4.0 shutout innings with five strikeouts.  Dawson Cloud allowed just one run in 5.0 innings of work as the starter.

GAME TWO - Central Baptist 12, Williams 6

Cade Parks (3-5, 2 RBI) and Mari Thomas (2-4, RBI) led the offense against the Mustangs in the AMC title game.

Thomas singled to score Parks in the top of the first inning to put WBU on the board first.  CBC struck back with two runs in the bottom half of the inning to go ahead 2-1, and added another run in the third to take a 3-1 lead.

Connor Brinkley launched a solo home run in the top of the fourth to cut the lead to one.

The game was all Mustangs from that point, with a run in the fourth, a run in the sixth, and a seven-run seventh inning that put CBC ahead 12-2.

Williams fought back with RBI singles from Will Riley and Cade Parks in the eighth and an RBI from Noah Pelcha in the ninth that cut the lead to 12-6, but were unable to rally to force the if necessary game.

The Eagles finished the season with a 31-19 overall record, tying the school record for wins in a season at 31 set in 2001.
