Eagles Cruise Past Moody Bible to Start 5-0
CHICAGO, Ill. (11/22/25) – The Williams Baptist University men's basketball team won its fifth consecutive game to start the season after defeating Moody Bible 119-84 on Saturday afternoon inside the Solheim Center.
Jesse Washington continued his hot streak with his third straight 30+ point game, scoring 43 points on 17-of-27 shooting from the field. He also brought down 10 rebounds for his third-straight double-double.
Deion Wesson scored 33 points on 13-of-20 shooting and led the team with five assists. Amarion Wilson added 12 points.
As a team, WBU went 47-of-88 (53.8 percent) from the floor, and 11-of-30 (36.7 percent) from three-point range. Williams won the rebound battle 39-28 and scored 38 points on 25 Archer turnovers. The Eagles never trailed in the contest.
The 119 points mark is the fourth-most points scored by WBU in a game, and Jesse Washington's 43-point performance is the third-highest scoring mark by an individual in program history.
Williams started the game on a 29-5 run in the first five minutes. Amarion Wilson buried a triple to open, and the Eagles then scored 10 more unanswered points. The Eagles closed the first half on an 11-2 run, entering the locker room up 67-37. The 67 points tie for the third-highest scoring mark in a half in program history.
With six and a half minutes in the game, Deion Wesson buried a triple to put the Eagles across the century mark. Jamichael Franklin gave WBU its largest lead of the day with 1:55 left in the second half with a layup that put the Eagles up 38.
Christ Theodor made a layup with 28 seconds left in the game to put an end to the Eagles' scoring, securing the 119-84 victory.
WBU is off to a 5-0 start to the season after the victory. Williams will look to extend its season-opening win streak to six on the road against Hendrix on Tuesday, Nov. 25. Tipoff against the Warriors is set for 5:30 p.m. from Conway, Ark.
