Eagles Drop Regular Season Finale to Trojans
HANNIBAL, Mo. (2/21/26) – The Williams Baptist University men's basketball team fell in the final game of the 2025-26 regular season 88-75 to Hannibal-LaGrange on Saturday afternoon inside the Mabee Sports Complex.
Benjamin Noonan led the scoring charge for WBU with 20 points, followed by Deion Wesson with 16. Aseem Luckey finished with a double-double on 15 points and a team-high 10 rebounds, and Jesse Washington followed up with 13 points.
As a team, Williams went 23-of-59 (39.0 percent) from the field and 8-for-20 (40.0 percent) from three-point range. Williams won the rebound battle 36-30. The contest featured five ties and four lead changes.
Benjamin Noonan got the Eagles out to a five-point lead with 13:36 to play in the first half. The Eagles extended the lead to eight after a four-point play from Noonan at 8:53.
Hannibal cut the lead to three with just under three minutes to play, but another Noonan triple kicked off a 9-3 run that put Williams ahead 45-36 at the halftime buzzer.
Hannibal caught fire from the field in the second half, as the Trojans shot a blistering 53.6 percent alongside a 46.7 percent clip from three-point range to storm back in front.
HLGU took the lead 62-60 with a three-pointer with just under 10 minutes to play in the second half. Amarion Wilson put the Eagles back in front with a layup, but an 11-0 swing from HLGU put the Trojans in front for good.
The Eagles finish the regular season with an overall record of 20-5 and a 10-4 mark in American Midwest Conference play. Next, the Eagles will face the sixth-seeded Mission in the quarterfinal round of the American Midwest Conference Tournament on Friday, Feb. 26. Tipoff against the Patriots is set for 2:15 from W.E. Dowell Fieldhouse in Springfield, Mo.
