Eagles Drop AMC Contests to WWU, Lyon

Starting Off:

Williams played a pair of American Midwest Conference games on Saturday and Tuesday against the Owls of Williams Woods University and the Scots of Lyon College. The Eagles were shutout in both contests.


Against Woods:

The game against WWU was scoreless after the first half. The Owls would net the go-ahead goal in the 88th minute of the contest on a goal by Rodrigo Alves to take the last minute victory. Williams Woods out-shot WBC 15-11 in the match.

For Williams, Matheus Allonso (SR/Sorocaba, Brazil) posted team-highs in shots with four and shots-on-goal with two. Javier Piedra (SR/Fort Worth, Texas) had seven saves.


Tuesday's Battle:

Lyon scored the first goal of the game in the 17th minute and held a 1-0 lead at the end of the first frame of action. The Scots added two more late insurance goals in the 79th minute and the 90th minute.

Statistically for the Eagles, Matheus Allonso, Bruno Campos (JR/Taboao da Serra, Brazil) and Thiago Sooma (SO/Sao Paulo, Brazil) each posted two shots on goal. WBC out-shot Lyon 21-8 in the game, which included a 9-4 edge with shots-on-goal, but Lyon was able to capitalize on its chances, scoring three goals with its four on target.


Up Next:

Williams will host (RV) Columbia College on Saturday, October 1. Kick-off is scheduled for a 1 p.m. start in Walnut Ridge.
