Eagles Fall in AMC Championship to Columbia

WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. - The Williams men's soccer team was defeated in the AMC Championship game by the Columbia Cougars 2-0.

The first half saw the Eagles weathering the Cougars offensive attack. Williams was constantly on the defensive and only had a few chances to move to their offensive end of the field. The Cougars opened up the scoring in the 20th minute when they were able to head home a ball off a corner kick.

The Eagles were much more offensive in the second half and created more chances for them selves, but were unable to find the back of the net. The Cougars doubled the score in the 46th minute.

"We tried our best today. It isn't easy to lose a championship game, but we know that we have had a great season. We still have a chance to play in the national tournament. I am very proud of our boys and we will be ready for the next challenge," Head Coach Gabriel Sitibaldi commented following the game.

The Cougars outshot the Eagles 16(10) - 10(6).

Alejandro Perez and Jorge Gisbert split time in the goal. Perez collected 11 saves in the game.
