WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. (10/24/23) – The Williams Baptist University Men's Soccer team fought to a 2-2 draw with Central Baptist College in an AMC matchup on Tuesday afternoon.
The Eagles kicked off the day with Senior Day festivities, honoring nine graduating seniors who have dedicated their lives to WBU Soccer over the past four years. Harrison Gailey, Gabriele Giommi, Adam Hernandez, Joao Costa, Jesus Mendoza, Emmanuel Devolder, Hugo Gil, and Alfonso Madrigal were all honored before the match began.
WBU would strike first in the match when Emmanuel Devolder found the back of the net in the 24th minute with an assist from Hugo Gil.
After the half, Jacobo Obradors would add to his school record goal total with an unassisted tally in the 58th minute to put the Eagles up by two scores.
CBC would strike back in the 67th minute when Daniel Pinkney assisted Hugh McAuley to cut the Eagles lead to one. The Mustangs would tie the game in the 86th minute when Daniel Pinkney found his second assist of the day, helping Marcos Pires score the equalizer.
Reigning AMC Defensive Player of the Week Rodrigo Pina played all 90 minutes of the match in the net, tallying six saves.
The Eagles will go into a must-win game on the road against Hannibal-LaGrange University Saturday at 1 p.m. If WBU wins the game, the team will clinch its second regular season conference title.
