Obradors, Pina Sweep AMC Player of the Week Honors

WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. (10/28/24) – Williams Baptist University men's soccer seniors Jacobo Obradors and Rodrigo Pina were named the American Midwest Conference Offensive and Defensive Players of the week for their performances against Central Baptist and Harris-Stowe State this week, the league office announced on Monday.

Obradors claimed the AMC Offensive Player of the Week award for the third time this season after a three goal week against CBC and HSSU.  The Madrid, Spain native added an insurance goal to a 4-0 win over Central Baptist on Tuesday, then found the back of the net twice more against Harris-Stowe on Saturday.  

Pina was tabbed AMC Defensive Player of the Week for the third time this season after making five saves in two shutout victories for the Eagles.  Pina made two saves in his only two chances against CBC on Tuesday, then went three-for-three against HSSU on Saturday.  Pina becomes the first goalkeeper to tally 10 shutouts in a season since Alejandro Perez in 2022.

The Eagles will return to the pitch on Tuesday, Oct. 29 for a rematch of last season's AMC Championship game against Columbia.  Kick-off is set for 3 p.m. from the WBU Soccer Field.
