WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. (11/2/24) – The Williams Baptist men's soccer team took down Hannibal-LaGrange 3-0 in its regular season finale at home on Saturday afternoon.
Before the match, WBU soccer honored eight seniors that dedicated themselves to the program and the university over the years. Fernando Paya, Ronald Hill, Rodrigo Pina, Hugo Gil, Adrian Briceno, Arthur Ferreira, Jacobo Obradors, and Andre Akabane were all recognized in a pre-match ceremony.
As a team, WBU out-shot Hannibal-LaGrange 20-6, while landing eight shots on goal.
The Eagles got scoring started in the 15th minute when Pedro Paulo came off the back line for his first score of the season with an assist from Jacob Doehmen.
Jacobo Obradors netted the Eagles second score in the 19th minute for his league-leading 18th goal of the season to give WBU a 2-0 lead.
Doehmen added a score of his own in the 39th minute with assists from Lucas Belinello and Mateus Ribeiro to send the Eagles up three.
Rodrigo Pina played all 90 minutes in goal for the Eagles. Pina's two saves on the day gave him his 12th shutout of the 2024 season, the most in a single-season ever by a WBU goalkeeper.
The Eagles finish the regular season with a 10-3-4 overall record and a 6-2 mark in the AMC. 2024 marks the third straight season with double digit wins for WBU.
