Smith, Aedo Sweep AMC Men’s Soccer Weekly Awards

WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. (10/20/25) – Williams Baptist University men's soccer players John Smith and Carlos Aedo claimed the American Midwest Conference Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week awards for week eight of the season, the league announced Monday afternoon.

Offensively, Carlos Aedo scored the game-winning goal in WBU's 1-0 win over Harris-Stowe on Tuesday.  The Santiago, Chile native buried the game's lone score in the 70th minute to keep WBU undefeated in conference play.

On the other side of the ball, John Smith claimed Defensive Player of the Week for the second week in a row after posting his second consecutive shutout against the Hornets.  Smith made two saves in 90 minutes of play, including a clutch save in the 85th to keep the Eagles' title hopes alive.

Williams will return to the pitch on Tuesday, Oct. 21 to face in-state conference foe Central Baptist.  Kick-off is set for 3 p.m. from the WBU Soccer Field on the campus of Williams Baptist University.
