The Williams Baptist University wrestling team traveled to Columbia, Ky. for the Lindsey Wilson College Duals on Saturday. The Eagles beat West Virginia Institute of Technology 42-11 while losing 24-21 to Lindsey Wilson, 37-9 to Southeastern University, 43-6 to University of the Cumberlands and 33-19 to Thomas More College.
WBU vs. WVU Tech
The one win for the 19th ranked Eagles came against West Virginia Tech by a 42-11 margin. The team earned maximum points in five weight classes.
Devon Amburgy won by fall (1:47) in the 285 lb. class, while Josh Wright, Nicholas Souder, Isaiah Sellers and Joshua Tyler all won via forfeits.
Meanwhile, Jaitlan Pitts earned a victory via technical fall (22-7), collecting five points for the team.
AJ Bindner picked up four points with a major decision victory after winning his match 19-6, while Joel Anguiano won by decision (9-3) to earn three team points.
WBU vs. LWC
The Eagles lost 24-21 to fourth-ranked Lindsey Wilson. The team won four separate weight classes.
Ruben Whitney won by forfeit, while Joel Anguiano and Kyle Lee won by fall. Anguiano won his match in 5:43 to take maximum points in the 184 lb. division, while Lee won his 165 lb. class in 4:45.
Devon Amburgy won by a narrow 5-4 division in the 285 lb. weight class to account for three points.
WBU vs. Southeastern
The Eagles lost 37-9 to ninth-ranked Southeastern. AJ Bindner earned six points for Williams with a victory by fall (6:30) in the 157 lb. weight class, while Maleek Caton scored a 5-1 decision in the 285 lb. weight class, earning three team points.
WBU vs. University of the Cumberlands
The Eagles lost 43-6 to the University of the Cumberlands. Joel Anguiano scored the points for the team with a win by fall in the 184 lb. weight class. He won his match in 5:19.
WBU vs. Thomas More College
The Eagles lost 33-19 to Thomas More College. The team scored points in four weight divisions.
Kyle Lee and Maleek Caton scored maximum (six) points in the 165 lb. and 285 lb. weight classes respectively. Lee won by a 2:57 fall, while Caton received a forfeit victory.
Meanwhile, Joshua Tyler scored a major decision (9-1) in the 157 lb. class and Jaitlan Pitts won by an 8-3 decision in the 141 lb. class to account for seven total points.
