Eagles Wrestling Sweeps Tri-Dual at Home

WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. (1/15/26) – The Williams Baptist University wrestling team went 2-0 in a tri-dual against McMurry and Central Baptist on Thursday evening inside the Southerland-Mabee Center.

WBU began the night with a 43-6 win over McMurry.  Jimmy Singleton started off with three points for Williams with a 13-9 win by decision.  Caiden Saavedra added on with five on a tech fall victory in the 149, then Tevin Minney took a win by fall in the 165.  Toman Corrall won in the 197 with a win by tech fall to set the final score at 43-6 for WBU's first dual win of the season.

Williams kept the momentum rolling with a 43-10 win over in-state foe Central Baptist in the final dual of the night.  Singleton set the tone with a win in the 125, then Landon Holmes followed with a win by fall in the 141.  WBU won the final six matches in a row with wins by fall from Tevin Minney and James Opitz, and a tech fall win from Matthew Russell.

The home victories moved WBU's dual record to 2-4 overall on the season..  The Eagles will be back in action on Friday, Jan. 16 against Lyon.  The dual is set for a 2 p.m. start inside the Southerland-Mabee Center.
