Saavedra Takes First at Missouri Valley Open 

MARSHALL, Mo. (2/7/26) – Caiden Saavedra took first place in the 149 bracket as the Williams Baptist University wrestling team competed in the Missouri Valley Open hosted by Missouri Valley College on Saturday.

Saavedra went 5-0 in the 149 bracket to take his second tournament win of the season.  The freshman took two wins by fall, and a win by major decision (10-1) in the first place match over Central Methodist's Gavin Shoush.  

Landon Holmes and Tevin Minney each took a win in the 141 and 165 weight classes respectively.

The Eagles return to the mat for the Sooner Athletic Conference Wrestling Championships on Saturday, Feb. 21 in Fort Worth, Tex.
