TOURNAMENT STORYLINES
NATIONAL RECOGNITION: Williams received votes in the first NAIA Coaches Top 25 Poll of the regular season on Wednesday. The Lady Eagles have two ranked wins on the season (#23 Texas A&M-Texarkana & #17 Evangel) and are coming off a sweep of (RV) Tennessee Southern.
150 FOR COACH NUTT: WBU Head Coach Jessica Nutt became the second coach in program history to reach 150 wins with a 10-9 extra-inning victory over (RV) Tennessee Southern on Saturday.
OVERPOWERING OFFENSE: Addison Foster leads the AMC in RBI so far this season with 20, and leads the league in homers with four. Breann Thresher and Ashlyn Michael are in a tie for third in RBI with 11 each.
LAST TIME IN GULF SHORES: WBU's last trip to the Gulf Shores Invitational came in 2024. Williams went 1-1 in the event, defeating Point 8-0 and falling to Oklahoma Wesleyan 5-1. Madyson Busselle had a homer and three RBI against Point as Emberlin Caldwell twirled a complete game shutout in the victory.
LAST TIME OUT: The Lady Eagles went 4-0 at home last weekend with wins over Missouri Valley and (RV) Tennessee Southern. Morgan Garner racked up three wins in the circle on the weekend with just two earned runs, including a two-win day on Saturday against Tennessee Southern where she did not allow an earned run while striking out eight Firehawks.
WHAT'S NEXT?: WBU will travel to take on Lane in a doubleheader on Tuesday, March 17. First pitch against the Dragons is set for 2 PM from Jackson, Tenn.
