Lady Eagles Bow Out of AMC Tournament Against Cottey
BRANSON, Mo. (4/30/26) – The Williams Baptist University softball team fell to Cottey 4-1 on Thursday afternoon in an elimination game at the Branson Rec-Plex, ending the Lady Eagles' run at the American Midwest Conference Tournament.
Madyson Busselle (1-3, HR, RBI) provided the only run for the Lady Eagles with a solo home run in the top of the sixth that cut the deficit to 4-1. Ashlyn Michael (2-3) and Breann Thresher (1-3, 2B) also posted hits in the contest.
Cottey struck first with a run in the bottom of the second, then plated a pair in the fourth and another insurance run in the fifth.
Emberlin Caldwell (L, 22-5) pitched a complete game in the circle for Williams.
With the loss, the Lady Eagles are eliminated from the AMC Tournament and drop to 41-13 overall this season.
WBU will continue its season in the NAIA Tournament Opening Round after securing a bid by winning the AMC regular season crown. The Lady Eagles will learn their destination and opponent for the opening round during the NAIA Softball Tournament Selection Show on Wednesday, May 6 at 5 p.m. on the NAIA YouTube channel.
