Eagles Compete at Carey Outdoor Challenge

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Williams Baptist outdoor track and field teams competed at the Carey Outdoor Challenge hosted by William Carey University on Friday.

There were three new school records set on the day: Madison Mittag (FR/Campbell, Mo.) in women's javelin with a throw of 29.58m, Kristin Sutton (FR/Gosnell, Ark.) with a time of 20.17 in the 100m hurdles, and Hannah Baker (SO/Osceola, Ark.) with a throw of 31.16m in the discus.

In the 5000m run, Ali Ward finished in fifth in the women's race with a time of 21:23.34, while Gage Blankenship (FR/Paragould, Ark.) and Isaiah Cook (SO/Hoxie, Ark.) finished in 11th and 12th in the men's race with time of 19:01.02 and 20:11.43 respectively.

In the 4x100 relay, the women's team came in ninth with a time of 56.19.

In the men's 800m, Jacob Whittle (SR/Eldon Mo.) finished in ninth with a time of 2:05.02, which was good for a new PR.

In the women's 3000m steeplechase, Ali Ward finished in first with a time of 13:15.01.

In the women's javelin, Madison Mittag finished in fifth with a throw of 29.58m and Kristin Sutton finished in eighth with a mark of 23.56m. In the men's javelin, Jacob Whittle finished fifth with a mark of 40.23m, which was good for a PR.

In women's discus, Hannah Baker finished in tenth with a throw of 31.16m.

In women's pole vault, Danielle Barstead (JR/Springfield, Mo.) placed second with a jump of 2.00m. In the men's pole vault, Read Parker (JR/Mountain Home, Ark.) placed second with a jump of 3.65m and Karis Smith placed fourth with a jump of 3.20m.

In women's shot put, Hannah Baker finished in tenth with a throw of 9.43m.

Other PRs set: Robby Cullum (JR/Hoxie, Ark.) with a throw of 22.9m in the discus, Rachel McKuin (JR/Blytheville, Ark.) with a time of 31.9 in the 200m, Emily Weiss (SO/Gosnell, Ark.) with a time of 21.80 in the 100m hurdles, Kristin Sutton with a time of 20.17 in the 200m hurdle, and Karlis Smith (SO/West Memphis, Ark.) a jump of 1.67m in the high jump.
