Henson Hits Milestone at Evangel Classic

Shelby Henson (SR/Dallas, Texas) reached the 1,000 dig mark, but the Williams Baptist University volleyball team lost all three matches at the "Evangel Classic" hosted by Evangel University this weekend. The tournament, held in Springfield, Mo. saw WBU suffer 3-0 losses to College of the Ozarks, Culver-Stockton College and Evangel University.

Henson's 1,000th dig came in the final match of the tournament for Williams. She recorded her digs in her 236th set and her third season of competition. The two-time honorable mention All-AMC performer averages over four digs per set in her career.

"I am very proud of Shelby for surpassing 1,000 digs. She is a hard worker and does her job very well. I cannot wait to see where this season goes with her leadership on our defense," said Head Coach Michele Lawson.

The team lost 3-0 (22-25, 17-25, 8-25) to C of O, 3-0 (19-25, 14-25, 20-25) to CSC and 3-0 (3-25, 16-25, 15-25) to Evangel.

The losses drop the season record to 1-5. They will next face Crowley's Ridge College on Tuesday, September 10. The match will be played at CRC in Paragould, Ark. at 7 p.m.
