Lady Eagles Fall At Philander Smith
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - The Williams volleyball team fell in straight sets (25-23, 25-22, 25-8) against Philander Smith on Thursday night.
The Lady Eagles started the first set on a roll and built a 7-2 lead, but the Panthers fought their way back into the set and made it a much closer affair that saw several ties and lead changes. It was all tied at 23 before the Panthers were able to win the next two points and take the first set 25-23.
Set two saw the Panthers take the early lead and the Lady Eagles were forced to work their way back into the game. Again, there were several ties and lead changes throughout the set. The Lady Eagles led 21-19 before the Panthers took four straight points to take control of the set. They eventually won the second set 25-22.
The third set was not kind to the Lady Eagles as they only scored eight points. The Panthers started on a 15-4 run that carried them winning the third set 25-8 and the match.
Molly Henson led the Lady Eagles with 10 kills. Sydney Burgin had 10 assists on the night, while Laykin Harkcom had nine. Burgin also led the team in digs with 10. Kendyll Knott-Debord had three blocks in the match.
