Eagles Fall to Pioneers in AMC Opener
PARAGOULD, Ark. (9/9/25) – The Williams Baptist University volleyball team dropped its first match of American Midwest Conference play in straight sets (25-13, 25-13, 25-10) to Crowley's Ridge on Tuesday night.
Tinleigh Ruhman led the Eagles with six kills in the contest, followed by Natalie Collier with four. As a team, WBU put up 17 kills on a 0.042 hitting percentage.
Crowley's Ridge took seven of the first eight points of the first set to get off to a strong start. A kill from Ruhman brought WBU within three later in the set, but CRC went on a 9-3 run to finish the set 25-10.
The second set looked very similar, as CRC broke away late with an 8-1 run to go up 22-11 and eventually take the frame. The Pioneers also dominated the third set with a 9-0 run late to secure the win in straight sets.
The Eagles drop to 0-8 on the season and 0-1 in AMC play. WBU will get another conference opportunity on Saturday, Sep. 13 in a tri-match with AMC foe Stephens and non-conference opponent Ozarks (Ark.). The Eagles will face the Stars in the first match of the triple-header at noon inside the Southerland-Mabee Center on the campus of Williams Baptist University.
