Eagles Drop Tight Match With Hornets
ST. LOUIS (9/27/25) – The Williams Baptist University volleyball team dropped an American Midwest Conference matchup with Harris-Stowe by the final score of 3-0 (25-14, 25-23, 25-22) on Saturday afternoon.
Tinleigh Ruhman led the Eagles attack in the contest with nine kills on a .167 hit percentage. Darcy Broglin followed with a season-high seven kills on a .500 clip. Desirae Walker posted a double-double with 13 assists and 11 digs, tying with Amber Kahler for the team-lead in assists. Hope Raymond led the way on the back row with 19 digs.
As a team, WBU put up 33 kills , 29 assists, and 49 digs.
The Hornets took care of the first set thanks to a 12-point swing that put HSSU up 15-5. The second set was a back-and-forth frame that saw WBU rush out to a 10-5 lead thanks to a pair of Hornet errors. The lead would not last, however, as HSSU stormed back with an 11-3 run to go up 19-15. Williams took seven of nine points late in the set to tie it at 23-23, but the Hornets took care of the final two points to win the set.
The third set of the match featured 16 ties as both squads went back and forth. After falling behind 18-17, WBU managed to get in front 21-18 after a kill from Natalie Collier, but Harris-Stowe took seven of the final eight points to come back and secure the victory.
The loss drops Williams to 1-15 overall and 0-7 in conference play this season.
The Lady Eagles will return to the court on Tuesday, Sep. 30 on the road at Bethel. First serve is set for 6 p.m. from McKenzie, Tenn.
