Lady Eagles Fall to Wildcats in Tuesday Night Matchup

WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. (10/1/25) – The Williams Baptist University volleyball team lost in its second match of the season with Bethel by the final score of 3-0 (25-19, 25-19, 25-16) on Tuesday night in McKenzie, Tenn.

Halie Sutton led the Lady Eagles with a season-high five kills on the night.  Natalie Collier and Tinleigh Ruhman followed with four kills each.

Hope Raymond and Faith Raymond each tied for the team-lead with nine digs in the match.  With those digs, Hope Raymond passed Caitlin Wakefield for the second most digs in a career at WBU.

As a team, Williams tallied 21 kills, 20 assists, and 45 digs.

After falling behind 20-10 in the first set, WBU rode the strong serve of Faith Raymond to come within three points of Bethel at 20-17.  Bethel was able to lock down the set by taking five of the last seven rallies, though, taking the set 25-19.

The Lady Eagles rallied back again in the second set, chipping away an eight-point deficit down to just two to make the score 20-18.  Once again, Bethel shut down the Eagles late in the set to take another 25-19 set win.

In the third, the Wildcats used a seven point swing to extend the lead to 23-13, and WBU was unable to recover and fell in straight sets.

The loss drops Williams to 1-16 overall on the season.  The Lady Eagles return to the court on Friday, Oct. 3 to face Cottey in conference action.  The match is slated for a 5 p.m. start time from Nevada, Mo.
