Lady Eagles Fall to Lions in Straight Sets
HENDERSON, Tenn. (10/7/25) – The Williams Baptist University volleyball team lost to Freed-Hardeman by the final score of 3-0 (25-16, 25-18, 25-13) on Tuesday night.
Alicea Epherson and Tinleigh Ruhman each led the Eagles with two kills on the night. Faith Raymond led the back row with nine digs.
FHU took the first three points of the first set and never looked back. Four straight points behind the serve of Alyssa Russel, including two aces, brought the Eagles within two points, but were unable to close the gap.
WBU took a 9-7 lead early in the second frame, but FHU responded with eight straight points to take control. The Eagles stormed back with four straight points behind Alyssa Russell to come within one point, but the Lions closed out the set to take the 25-18 win.
In the final set, Freed-Hardeman took the lead behind 11 straight points to take a commanding lead and win the match.
The loss drops WBU to 1-20 overall on the season. Next, WBU will return home to face Mission in American Midwest Conference play on Friday, Oct. 10. The match is slated for a 6 p.m. start from the Southerland-Mabee Center on the campus of Williams Baptist University.
