WBU Falls to CBC in Straight Sets

WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. (10/16/25) – The Williams Baptist University volleyball team lost to Central Baptist at home on Thursday night by the final score of 3-0 (25-12, 25-19, 25-9).

Tinleigh Ruhman led the team with four kills in the contest.  Desirae Walker posted 10 assists, and Faith Raymond led the back row with eight digs.

As a team, WBU put up 16 kills, 27 digs, and 15 assists.

Central Baptist took control of the first set with an 8-0 swing to take a 15-3 lead and did not look back.  The Eagles were unable to close the large gap as CBC took a 1-0 lead.

Williams punched back by taking the first three points of the second set, but Central Baptist took the next six to go up 6-3.  WBU cut the lead to one after a kill from Ruhman and a couple Mustang attack errors, but CBC pulled away by taking the last six points to take the set 25-19.

The Mustangs kept their foot on the gas in the third frame, taking 10 of the final 11 points of the match to take the victory.

The loss drops WBU to 1-22 overall and 0-12 in conference play this season.  The Lady Eagles return to the floor on Saturday, Oct. 18 for a tri-match at Hannibal-LaGrange.  WBU will face the host team at 1 p.m., then face Columbia in a neutral site match at 3 p.m.
