Washington Posts 40 to Lead Eagles Past Hornets
WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. (2/12/26) – Williams Baptist University men's basketball senior Jesse Washington scored a career-high 40 points as WBU cruised past Harris-Stowe by the final score of 114-67 inside the Southerland-Mabee Center on Thursday night.
All five Eagle starters finished with double-digit points in the win. Jesse Washington scored the third-most points in a game in WBU history with 40, alongside tying the record for second-most field goals hit in a game with 16 to lead WBU.
Deion Wesson and Benjamin Noonan followed up tied with 18 points each, Aseem Luckey scored 17, and Amarion Wilson finished with 10.
Washington, Luckey, and Wilson all finished with double-doubles. Washington had 11 rebounds, Luckey led the team with 15 boards, and Wilson finished with 12 assists, tied for the second-most in a game in WBU history.
Harris-Stowe held close through the first 10 minutes of the game. A Deion Wesson triple put WBU up by five, but the Hornets came back to close the gap and tie the game at 28-28 with 8:19 left in the first half.
Williams broke away after that with a 15-0 run over six minutes capped off by an Aseem Luckey layup that put the Eagles ahead 45-30. A seven-point swing from Washington put WBU ahead 53-32 at the end of the first half.
The Eagles cruised through the second half, outsourcing HSSU 61-35 in the final 20 minutes. Back-to-back threes from Washington put the Eagles ahead 86-56 with seven minutes to play and pushed him over the 40-point line, making him just the third Eagle in recorded program history to cross 40 points in a single game.
A dunk from Deion Wesson pushed Williams over the century mark, and the Eagles finished the game on a 14-3 run to cruise to the home win.
The victory moves WBU to 18-4 overall and 8-3 in AMC play. The Eagles return to the home floor on Saturday, Feb. 14 against Mission for Senior Day. Tipoff against the Patriots is set for 3 p.m. inside the Southerland-Mabee Center.
