Williams Downs TAMUT in Home Opener

WALNUT RIDGE, Ark.  (9/1/25) – The Williams Baptist University men's soccer team defeated Texas A&M-Texarkana in the team's 2025 season home opener by the final score of 1-0 on Monday afternoon.

WBU and TAMUT both put up 12 shots in the match.  Williams put seven shots on goal, while Texarkana only put two on target.

Williams had an early chance in the 21st minute on a header shot from Drew Jerrett that was saved by the TAMUT goalkeeper.  A minute later, a shot from Ricardo Da Silva was saved again to keep the game tied at 0-0.

Williams finally broke through after halftime with a header from Harry Lee on a corner kick from Matheus Farias in the 47th minute.

Texarkana put up multiple shots to attempt to tie the game after the early second-half goal, but were unable to break through as WBU secured the win.

Marco Cisneros made two saves in 90 minutes between the sticks for the shutout win, the first shutout of his career.

The win moves the Eagles to 2-2-0 on the season.  Next, WBU will take on No. 13 LSU Shreveport at home on Saturday, Sep. 6.  Kick-off is set for 2 p.m. from the WBU Soccer Field on the campus of Williams Baptist University.
