Lady Eagles Fall to Eutectics on Senior Day

WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. (10/19/24) – The Williams Baptist University women's soccer team fell to the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy 2-1 Saturday afternoon on Senior Day.

Prior to kick-off, the Lady Eagles honored two seniors who have dedicated themselves to the program and the university over the years.  Jer'Kaila Jones and Juanita Trujillo were both honored in a pre-match ceremony.

Victoria de Abreu scored the Eagles' only goal just 17 seconds into the match with a long shot just outside of the box that got past the keeper to put WBU up 1-0 early.

As a team, Williams put up 10 shots on goal in the contest.  De Abreu led the team with five, Mackenzie Souers and NIchole Craig both put up two, and Stacy Hernandez put one on target.

Out of halftime, the Eutectics found the equalizer in the 59th minute to tie the game at one all, then scored the go-ahead goal in the 70th minute for a 2-1 lead.

Nichole Craig looked to tie it back late with a shot in the 90th minute, but it was saved and UHSP took the win.

Lisa Craig played all 90 minutes between the sticks for WBU, securing nine saves.

The loss drops WBU to 3-10 overall on the season, and 1-3 in conference play.  The Eagles will look to bounce back against an in-state rival on the road in Central Baptist.  Kick-off is set for 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 22 from Conway, Ark.
