Lady Eagles Voted 5th in AMC Cross Country Preseason Poll

WALNUT RIDGE, Ark.  (8/21/25) – The Williams Baptist University women's cross country team was voted to finish fifth in the American Midwest Conference preseason coaches' poll, the league revealed Thursday afternoon.

Williams collected 10 points in the poll to finish fifth.  Columbia finished at the top of the board with 25, Cottey and Hannibal-LaGrange tied for second with 18, and UHSP finished with 14 in fourth place.

First-year head coach Jennifer Mathis returns Aletta Jonker and Jill Johnson from last year's team, while welcoming in NJCAA All-Region 2 Team selection Sharon Strydom from Arkansas-Rich Mountain as a key newcomer.

Williams will begin the 2025 season on Saturday, August 30 in the Memphis Twilight Classic in Memphis, Tenn.  The women will start at 9:20 p.m., with the men beginning at 10 p.m.
