Big Second Half Leads Lady Eagles Past Lyon
WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. - The Williams women's basketball team had a big second half in their 91-80 comeback win over the Lyon College Scots on Tuesday night.
The Lady Eagles found themselves down 11 points with 7:24 left in the second quarter, before going on a 10-4 run to cut the lead to six with 4:26 left in the half. The Scots extended the lead back out to nine and then Williams went on another 10-4 run to close the half out only down four.
The third quarter saw the two teams battling, but the Lady Eagles couldn't seem to close the gap between the two teams. However, with 11 seconds left in the quarter Reesa Hampton hit a three-pointer to cut the lead to one off a pass from Italei Gray. Kaylee Clark stole the ball on the following inbound and was fouled. She made both of her free-throws to give Williams the lead. From there, the Lady Eagles outscored the Scots 26-16 to close out the game.
The Lady Eagles shot 52.8% from the field (28-53), 25% from the three-point line (3-12), and 74.4% from the free-throw line (32-43).
Monica Horne collected her fifth double-double of the season with 15 points and 15 rebounds.
Nijah Moore had a career-high 20 points coming off the bench. Clark added 19 points, Tristan Richards had 16, Gray had 11, and Hampton had 10.
Hampton also finished with nine assists.

The Lady Eagles travel to Fulton, Mo. on Thursday, Jan. 12 for a matchup against William Woods. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
