Fourth Quarter Comeback Falls Short as Lady Eagles Fall to Eutectics 69-61

WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. - The Williams women's basketball team saw their fourth quarter comeback fall short as they fell to the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy (UHSP) Eutectics 69-61 on Saturday afternoon.

The Lady Eagles saw themselves trailing by 29-27 heading into halftime. The Eutectics came out strong in the third quarter and outscored Williams 24-11 to lead 53-38 heading into the final ten minutes of play. 

Williams went on a 13-4 run start the quart to cut the lead to 57-51 with 4:52 left. They cut the lead to two point when Reesa Hampton hit a three-pointer with 1:59 remaining. From there the Lady Eagles had to foul to stop the clock and the Eutectics converted all of their free-throw shots to put away the game, while the Lady Eagles couldn't get another basket to fall. 

The Lady Eagles shot 47.9% from the floor (23-48), 18.2% from the three-point line (2-11), and 61.9% from the free-throw line (13-21). 

Tristan Richards led the team with 15 points, while Nijah Moore had 13 points coming off the bench. Kaylee Clark and Italei Gray both finished with 10 points.

Richards also led the team on the boards with seven. Hampton finished with seven assists in the game.

The Lady Eagles are next in action on Saturday, Jan. 28 as they travel to St. Louis, Mo. for a matchup against Missouri Baptist. Tip-off is scheduled for 1 p.m.
