Clark, Taylor Twins and Hooten Earn AMC All-Conference Honors

WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. (2/29/24) - Williams Baptist University women's basketball juniors Kaylee Clark and Carmen Taylor were named American Midwest Conference First-Team All-Conference selections, while Charmen Taylor garnered Second-Team accolades and Taylor Hooten earned Honorable Mention All-Conference honors the league office announced Thursday evening. 

In addition, Hooten was also named to the league's All-Defensive team while Sara Crowe was tabbed as one of the AMC's top freshman and earned a spot on the All-Freshman squad. 

Zahirya Baker was named to the Champions of Character squad, which honors student-athletes that best exemplifies the NAIA Five Core Values of Respect, Responsibility, Sportsmanship, Integrity and Servant Leadership. 

Rounding out the awards for the Lady Eagles were Brylee Durbin, Raigan Head, Crowe, Clark, Hooten and Carmen Taylor who all earned Academic All-Conference honors. 

Clark finished third in the league in scoring with an average of 20.6 points per game and also ranked second in both 3-point field goal percentage (37.5) and 3-point field goals made per game (2.5). 

The Batesville, Ark., native was a two-time AMC Player of the Week award winner and also became the sixth player in program history to surpass 1,000 career points earlier this season. She ranked ninth in the AMC in assists with 2.9 per contest and was sixth in steals (1.9).

Carmen Taylor was a First-Team All-Conference selection and ranked fourth in the AMC in points with 17.1 per outing and led the league with 3.2 steals each game. She shot 42.9 percent from the field during the year and also knocked an average of two shots from beyond the arc each game, which ranked seventh in the AMC. 

Charmen Taylor earned Second-Team All-Conference accolades after recording seven double-doubles on the year and was 10th in the league in scoring at 14.3 points per game. She also ranked 10th in rebounding at 6.7 boards per night, while leading the league in both field goal percentage (52.3) and assist-to-turnover ratio (2.0). She also was named an AMC Player of the Week in early December after recording double-doubles in back-to-back games.

Hooten earned Honorable Mention honors after ranking second in the AMC on both assists (4.7) and assist-to-turnover ratio (1.9), while also ranking third in steals with 2.4 per game. She was one of the league's top rebounding point guards, averaging 4.7 boards per game, while also knocking down 41, 3-point field goals on the year. 

She also regularly drew the assignment of locking down the opposing team's best guard and did so well, earning her a spot on the league's All-Defensive team.

Crowe earned All-Freshman Team honors after leading the league in blocks at 1.7 per game. She scored in double-figures five times on the year and had a season-best 25 points against Columbia on Feb. 3. She also recorded a double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds on Dec. 2 in the league opener against the Cougars. 

The Lady Eagles will take on Cottey in the opening round of the AMC Women's Basketball Tournament Presented by Tandem HR Friday, March 1 in Columbia, Mo. Tip-off is set for 2:30 p.m.
