Horne Tabbed AMC Defensive Player of the Week

WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. (12/23/24) – Williams Baptist University senior Monica Horne was selected as the American Midwest Conference Women's Basketball Defensive Player of the Week for the week of Dec. 23, the league announced on Monday morning.

Horne secured 22 rebounds and three blocks across two decisive wins in the Big Island Holiday Classic in Hilo, Hawai'i.  

The McKinney, Tex. native cleaned the glass with a season-high 14 rebounds in a 92-57 win over Edgewood on Monday, then contributed eight more boards and three blocks in a record-breaking 120-39 win over Fontbonne on Tuesday.

Horne also put up 25 points across the two matchups on 12-for-14 shooting from the field.

Horne and the Lady Eagles will return to the court on Dec. 31 for an exhibition matchup against Ouachita Baptist.  Tip-off against the Tigers is set for 2 p.m. in Arkadelphia, Ark.
