Isaacs Leads Scoring Frenzy in Lady Eagles Victory Over Crowley's Ridge
WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. (1/3/25) – Senior Kaylee Isaacs posted her first career triple-double as the Williams Baptist University women's basketball team raced past Crowley's Ridge 112-51 in American Midwest Conference play inside the Southerland-Mabee Center on Friday night.
Isaacs posted a season-high 30 points with 10 assists and 11 rebounds for the first triple-double of her four-year career. Carmen Taylor and Cortayza Flowers followed with 17 points, Taylor Hooten put up 16, and Charmen Taylor scored 13 in the offensive assault. This marks the second straight game five Eagles have scored 10 or more points.
As a team, WBU shot 45-for-98 from the field (45.9 percent) including a red-hot 13-for-23 from three-point range (56.5 percent). The Lady Eagles put up the second-most assists in a game in program history with 34, the fourth most field goals made with 45, and tied for the fourth most three-pointers in a game with 13.
The Eagles cashed in 40 points off 34 forced turnovers, and scored 26 second chance points. Williams held CRC to just 23.0 percent from the field on the night. WBU never trailed in the game.
Hooten jump started the Eagle offense in the first quarter, going 5-for-6 from the field with two three-pointers for 13 points. A Hooten trey capped off a 21-2 run for the Lady Eagles to put the squad up 24-7 with 2:28 left in the first quarter.
After halftime, an Isaacs jumper with 3:01 left in the third ballooned the WBU lead to 40. Isaacs went 5-for-6 from the field including a perfect 3-for-3 from downtown for 13 points in the third quarter.
In the fourth, Isaacs found six assists to cross the triple-double mark, as Cortayza Flowers worked hard in the paint for 13 points in the stanza. A Zahria Baker layup pushed the WBU lead to 61, which would hold true for the final.
The Eagles fourth straight win improves the squad to 9-3 overall and 5-1 in AMC play. Next, WBU will head to Springfield, Mo. to face Mission. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 7.
