Lady Eagles Cruise Past Mission 88-72

WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. (1/7/25) – Carmen Taylor, Charmen Taylor, and Kaylee Isaacs all finished with 23 points each as the Williams Baptist University women's basketball team took an 88-72 win over Mission in Springfield, Mo. on Tuesday night.

The Taylor Twins and Kaylee Isaacs all tied to lead all scorers with 23 points each. Carmen went 8-for-14 from the field, Charmen went 11-for-17, and Isaacs shot for a 9-for-21 mark.  Isaacs also matched her season-high in rebounds with 13 to lead the team on the glass and finish with a double-double.

As a team, Williams shot 34-for-72 from the field (47.2 percent) while holding Mission to just 39.7 percent shooting (25-for-63).  The Lady Eagles won the rebound battle 44-36 and scored 29 points off of 23 Patriot turnovers.

After Mission scored the first bucket of the game to take a 2-0 lead, an Isaacs free throw capped off a 7-0 run to give Williams a lead it would not relinquish.

WBU added to the advantage with an 8-0 run to open the second quarter led by six from Charmen Taylor.  The Lady Eagles headed to the locker room with a 41-25 lead.

An 11-3 Patriot run in the third quarter cut the lead to 13, but the Lady Eagles put an end to the run and took a 67-52 lead into the final 10 minutes.

A Monica Horne free throw gave WBU its largest lead of the night at 24 with 3:36 left in the contest.  Two straight three-pointers from the Patriots cut the lead to 16, but it was not enough and the Lady Eagles took the 88-72 win.

The win moves WBU to 10-3 on the season and 6-1 in conference play.  The Lady Eagles now sit alone in second place in the AMC standings behind undefeated Columbia.

Next, Williams will return home to take on Central Baptist on Thursday, Jan. 9.  Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m. inside the Southerland-Mabee Center.
