Isaacs Becomes All-Time Leading Scorer as Eagles Defeat Pioneers
PARAGOULD, Ark. (2/6/25) – Senior Kaylee Isaacs became the new all-time leading scorer for Williams Baptist University women's basketball as she led the Lady Eagles to an 86-73 victory over Crowley's Ridge inside the Carter Activities Center on Thursday night.
Isaacs passed Angela Flippo for the all-time scoring crown with her 27-point performance against the Pioneers. Flippo's 1,892 point career record stood for over 31 years.
Carmen Taylor followed with 17 points on 6-for-20 shooting from the field. Charmen Taylor posted a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds on the night.
As a team, WBU shot 44.0 percent in the contest, including 26.1 percent from three-point range. The Lady Eagles won the rebound battle 38-32, and turned 19 Pioneer turnovers into 18 points.
Isaacs tied the record with a three-pointer in the first two minutes of the game that put WBU up 5-0. She broke the record shortly after with a free throw that pushed her past Flippo's all-time mark.
WBU finished the first quarter on a 12-2 run to take a 26-15 advantage at the break. The Pioneers held pace on a 53.8 percent shooting clip in the second quarter to cut the lead to one at halftime. The Lady Eagles went into the locker room up 44-34.
Crowley's Ridge began to make up ground in the second half, out-scoring Williams 20-16 in the third. A Kiyuana Foster layup cut the Eagle lead to just four right before the end of the third quarter.
The Lady Eagles began the fourth quarter on an 8-3 run to push the advantage back to 11. An Ansley Dawson triple cut the lead back to eight, but Williams responded with a 13-3 run to put the Pioneers away.
The Lady Eagles are now on the longest win streak in program history at 14 consecutive victories.
Next, Williams will travel to St. Louis, Mo. to take on the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy. Tip-off against the Eutectics is set for 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 8.
