Lady Eagles Conclude Season Against No. 1 Campbellsville in NAIA Tournament Second Round

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. (3/15/25) – A historic season for the Williams Baptist University women's basketball team came to a close after an 80-64 loss to No. 1 seeded Campbellsville in the Round of 32 of the NAIA Tournament on Saturday.

The Lady Eagles finish the season with a program-best 28 victories.  The 2024-25 campaign also saw the Lady Eagles capture their first AMC regular season championship, second consecutive trip to the NAIA Tournament, and first ever NAIA Tournament victory.

Charmen Taylor led the Lady Eagles with 24 points in the game on 10-for-16 from the field.  Her twin sister, Carmen Taylor, finished just behind with 22 points, including five made three-pointers.  Monica Horne led the team with nine rebounds, and Kaylee Isaacs dished out five assists.

Campbellsville won the rebound battle 40-27.  The Lady Eagles committed 26 turnovers that turned into 26 points for the Lady Tigers.  WBU knocked down seven three pointers in the contest and had a total of 17 assists.

After an opening three from Campbellsville, Carmen Taylor responded with an early triple to open up scoring.  Charmen Taylor knocked down a three-pointer to tie the game at 15 later on in the period before Campbellsville finished the frame on a 13-0 run to go up 28-15 at the quarter break.

The Lady Eagles were able to cut the Tiger lead to eight with a 7-0 run after the second quarter media timeout, but a Campbellsville trey at the buzzer put the Tigers ahead 45-32 at halftime.

WBU was unable to mount a comeback in the second half.  Charmen Taylor cut the lead to 12 with a three-pointer to begin the fourth quarter, but Campbellsville responded with an 8-2 swing to put it out of reach for Williams.

WBU finished the season with an overall record of 28-5.
