Eagles Dominate Pioneers at Home
WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. (1/6/26) – The Williams Baptist University women's basketball team had a dominant scoring showcase inside the Southerland-Mabee Center on Tuesday night, taking down the Pioneers 113-38 in an American Midwest Conference matchup.
The 113-point showing is the most points the Lady Eagles have had in a game this season, and the first time WBU has crossed the century mark in 2025-26. 13 unique Eagles recorded a bucket in the win.
Joi Montgomery led the offensive assault with 21 points on 10-of-11 shooting from the field, while also leading the squad with seven rebounds. Taylor Hooten followed up with 15 points on a perfect 5-for-5 clip from three-point range, while Cha'Myrean Ellis and Seanlajah Smith also piled on 11 points each. Zyonna Anderson led the team in assists with seven on the night.
As a team, WBU shot 47-of-86 (54.7 percent) from the field with a 14-of-28 (50.0 percent) mark from three-point range. Williams won the rebound battle 38-37, and forced the Pioneers into 40 turnovers that turned into 53 Eagle points.
After conceding the first bucket of the game, WBU fired off an 18-0 run capped off by four points from Cortayza Flowers. The Lady Eagles went on to out-score CRC 33-4 in the first 10 minutes of the game.
Williams kept its foot on the gas in the second period, out-scoring the Pioneers 36-8 while shooting for a 62.5 percent clip. A Katelyn Graddy trey closed out scoring in the first half, giving WBU a 69-12 advantage at halftime.
The Lady Eagles out-scored the Pioneers 28-12 in the third quarter to take a 97-24 lead into the fourth quarter. WBU crossed the century mark on a Journi Versi layup with 8:43 left in the fourth, and took its largest lead of the night on an Abby Alphin layup with 1:41 left in the game to go up by 80.
The win moves WBU to 8-3 overall and 2-1 in conference play this season. Next, the Lady Eagles will play host to Stephens on Thursday, Jan. 8. Tipoff against the Stars is set for 5:30 p.m. inside the Southerland-Mabee Center.
