Lady Eagles Roll Pioneers on the Road

PARAGOULD, Ark. (2/3/26) – The Williams Baptist University women's basketball team took down Crowley's Ridge by the final score of 98-29 in American Midwest Conference action inside Carter Activities Center on Tuesday night.

Lakiya Scott led the scoring charge for WBU with 17 points in just 14 minutes off the bench.  Cha'Myrean Ellis followed up with 15 in 13 minutes played.  Five Lady Eagles scored double-digit points.  Scott also led the team on the glass with seven rebounds.

As a team, WBU went 40-of-88 (45.5 percent) from the field and 8-of-25 (32.0 percent) from three-point range.  The Lady Eagles' defense held CRC to just 9-of-42 (21.4 percent) from the field on the night.  WBU won the rebound battle 51-32 and scored 46 points off turnovers.  Williams never trailed in the contest.  

The Lady Eagles got out to a hot start to seize an advantage, outscoring the Pioneers 29-3 in the first quarter.  Williams went 12-of-25 from the field in the first 10 minutes, while holding Crowley's Ridge to just 1-of-11.

WBU added 20 points to the advantage with a 28-8 second quarter.  Joi Montgomery led the team in the period with seven points.  Williams ended the first half on a 7-4 run, capped off by a jumper from Journi Versi, to send the Lady Eagles into the locker room ahead 57-11.

WBU kicked off the third quarter with back-to-back threes from Chelsea Hamilton and Cha'Myrean Ellis to extend the lead to 63-11.  WBU ended the period on an 11-2 run to take an 84-18 advantage into the final quarter.  Williams cruised to the victory in the final quarter for its 18th consecutive win over the Pioneers.

The win moves Williams to 16-4 overall, and 9-2 in AMC play this season.  Next, the Lady Eagles continue their road stand against Stephens on Thursday, Feb. 5. Tipoff against the Stars is set for 5:30 p.m. from Columbia, Mo.
