Lady Eagles Take Down Trojans in Regular Season Finale

HANNIBAL, Mo. (2/21/26) – The Williams Baptist University women's basketball team defeated Hannibal-LaGrange 87-55 in the final game of the regular season on Saturday afternoon.

Chelsea Hamilton led the Eagles with 23 points in the win while knocking down seven three-pointers.  Cha'Myrean Ellis followed with 16.  Joi Montgomery finished with 15 points and led the team with eight assists and six rebounds.  Nine different Lady Eagles recorded at least two points in the win.

As a team WBU went 37-of-80 (46.3 percent) from the field, and won the rebound battle 38-23.  The Eagles scored 39 points off 25 Trojan turnovers.  Williams led the contest wire-to-wire.

Sara Crowe knocked down the first bucket of the game to kick off a 15-3 Eagle run to put Williams ahead early.  The Lady Eagles led 22-10 at the end of the first quarter, then outscored HLGU 21-13 in the second quarter to take a 43-23 lead at halftime.

WBU ran away with the game after that, posting 34 points in the third quarter to extend its lead 77-41 going into the final period of the game. 

The Lady Eagles finish the regular season with a 22-4 overall record, and a 16-2 mark in conference play.  Next, WBU will face the seventh-seeded Harris-Stowe in the quarterfinal round of the American Midwest Conference Tournament.  Tipoff against the Hornets is set for 5:15 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 26 inside W.E. Dowell Fieldhouse in Springfield, Mo.
