Hooten, Montgomery Land on AMC All-Tournament Team
WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. (3/5/26) – Williams Baptist University women's basketball's Taylor Hooten and Joi Montgomery were named to the American Midwest Conference All-Tournament Team, the league announced Thursday morning.
Hooten and Montgomery led the way for WBU as it made its third consecutive trip to the AMC Tournament finals.
Montgomery averaged a double-double on 16.0 points and 10.0 rebounds across the tournament for Williams. She posted double-doubles against Harris-Stowe and Stephens to lead WBU to the championship game. She also dished out 12 assists and made 11 steals in the three games.
Hooten returned to the lineup for the Lady Eagles after missing the final four games of the regular season and stood out on the defensive side of the ball. The senior brought down seven rebounds and dished out six assists in WBU's semifinal win over Stephens. She also had four steals in the tournament.
The Lady Eagles earned the AMC's second automatic bid to the NAIA National Tournament. WBU will learn its' first round opponent during the NAIA Women's Basketball Selection Show, scheduled to take place at 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 5. The show will be available to watch on YouTube.
