Lady Eagles End Regular Season With 79-71 Win Over Stephens

COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Williams women's basketball team defeated the Stephens College Stars 79-71 on Saturday afternoon to end the regular season.

The Lady Eagles had a slow start to the game and found themselves trailing the Stars for most of the first quarter and ended the first ten minutes down 21-17. Williams quickly picked it up and ended up tied at 34 going into halftime. They went on a run at the end of the third quarter and led 59-55. The Lady Eagles outscored the Stars 20-16 in the final quarter to win 79-71. 

Williams shot 52.9% from the field (27-51), 31.3% from the three-point line (5-16), and 74.1% from the free-throw line (20-27). 

Nijah Moore led the team with 21 points off the bench. Kaylee Clark finished with 18 points and Italei Gray had 11 points. 

Moore, Carson Defries, and Dani Shepard all had 5 rebounds to lead the team. Reesa Hampton finished with 8 assists in the game.

The Lady Eagles secured the #4 seed in the AMC Tournament this week. They will play #5 Stephens on Friday, Feb. 24 at 5:15 p.m.  The tournament will be hosted by Columbia College this year in Columbia, Mo.
